Dear Richmond-Burton High School Community,
We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying another school year. We are delighted to share some exciting news regarding the upcoming facility upgrades that will take place as part of Richmond-Burton Community High School’s long-term facility plan.
Over the past five years, the district has been dedicated to enhancing the overall learning environment for students and providing a more enjoyable space for the community. As part of this commitment, several improvements have already been made, including the creation of a S.T.E.A.M lab, replacement of chillers, exhaust fans, and measures to improve indoor air quality. Last summer, the completion of the Learning Resource Center marked a significant milestone in our efforts to maintain and modernize our existing facilities.
Looking ahead to the summer of 2024, we are excited to announce the next phase of our long-term facility plan, focusing on the theater facilities. Richmond-Burton Community High School will be replacing all electronics, lights, and rigging in the theater. These enhancements will be complemented by an upgraded sound system and improvements to the overall aesthetics of the space, ensuring an enhanced theater experience for all students and community members.
But that's not all—our commitment extends beyond fine arts improvements. We have a comprehensive plan for the next five years, which includes the replacing of aging roofs with new energy efficient roofs, replacement of HVAC equipment, and safety improvements to our inside and outside facilities.
Starting this spring the former maintenance building will be torn down, allowing the road behind the stadium bleachers to be relocated. The additional space this will provide between the bleachers and the location of the new road placement will allow us to incorporate safety features such as stadium fencing, better lighting, benches, curbs and sidewalks.
Additionally, a major highlight of our plans includes the creation of a main entrance to the stadium. This will feature ticket gates, new concessions, updated press box and larger modern restrooms. This will provide not only a welcoming entry point, but also a more comfortable and convenient experience for everyone attending high school and community events in our stadium.
We want to emphasize that these improvements are made possible without the need for additional revenues or new taxes. All projects are paid for through current funds, showcasing the D157 Board of Education’s commitment to responsible fiscal management, while still ensuring that our students and community members benefit from a safer and more secure school campus.
As we progress with these exciting upgrades, we want to express our gratitude for your ongoing support. Together, we are building a vibrant and forward-looking environment that benefits the entire Richmond-Burton Community.
Thank you for being an integral part of this journey.
Sincerely,
The Richmond-Burton CHSD 157 Board of Education
